We are thrilled to announce our latest opportunity to educate and inspire the community about Music Therapy with an upcoming Grand Rounds presentation! With Therapeutic Songwriting as our focus, the presentation will feature Crystal Weaver, CRC, MT-BC, Tracie Sandheinrich, MT-BC, and Grammy Award Nominee Andrew Dwiggins, MT-BC – describing how we and our patients collaboratively transform their experiences and emotions into song.

Why is songwriting therapeutic? How are songs for the radio different from therapeutic songs? Does a patient need to be an accomplished musician/songwriter for a session to be successful?

These and more questions will be answered by our engaging presentation: including patient interviews, session experiences, and most importantly – MUSIC!

Our Mission Statement

Posted on Updated on

Our mission, in conjunction with the physicians of the Saint Louis University Cancer Center, is to engage our patients with the many healing properties of Music Therapy. Our evidence-based, person-centered approach provides patients with non-invasive opportunities for physical, psychological, social, and emotional restoration during their cancer experience.

Music Therapists Crystal Weaver, M. A., CRC, MT-BC and Andrew Dwiggins, MT-BC bring one-on-one Music Therapy sessions to patients in the privacy of their hospital rooms. The Music Therapy Program also partners with The Saint Louis Symphony and The SLU School of Fine and Performing Arts to coordinate volunteer performances for SLU patients in our infusion center.

Stay tuned for many exciting developments as we grow our program in therapeutic and educational outreach groups, publish ongoing and upcoming research studies and findings, and evolve our patient care to assist the successful realization of their ultimate well-being.
